Red ‘Hot’ Lake

Red Lake water. No wonder the lake got such a name. We’ve just stopped by for overnight in Duluth, Minnesota, on our way to Oshkosh, and it appears to be the first place where I could get an access to the Internet. We’ve driven already some 2500 km on the roads across the half of Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, a bit of Ontario, - to Red Lake, a small town where the Highway 105 ends, and the most reliable transport to get you further North is the aviation.

A bushplane of remarkable history - the Norseman Which means presumably ‘planes on floats’. Some of these planes have been around here for more than 60 years, and they are still in very good shape. And the truth of this we have just checked out as we visited the ‘Norseman Festival’, a local Red Lake airshow featuring unique planes ‘built to last’.

A Cossack Girl in a Cowboy Country

… Sounds like the ‘heredity really matters’.

Zhenya posed for while like a real ‘Stampede girl’

She came to visit us from the ‘Cossacks’ Country’ - a region of Russia traditionally called ‘Kuban’ (nothing has to do with ‘Cuba’, though, and I was reflecting on it here), with a main city of Krasnodar. In old times it was called ‘Ekaterinodar’, which meant a ‘big gift’ to the cossacks from Katherine the Great, a legendary Russian Empress .

Summer in Montreal

Editorial, Travel, Travels, From the Road No Comments »

SHRA covered Montreal Downtown ‘Summer in Montreal’. How’ s this in French? - should ask somebody…

It is very true, the summer is on in Montreal. Sure, it is warm in the city, and truly ’summer rains’ pumping the water onto its streets now and then. We watched one of them, as we approached RW 24R today, on July, 6th, at about 2:30 p.m.

Short video of crossing traffic observed in flight

Blogroll, Flickr, Editorial, Travel, Times&Spaces, Travels No Comments »

SEE VIDEO HERE

Tired!

Attempted to upload the video - just one short video, nothing more. And failed :( But tomorrow we go home!

Somewhere near Ottawa we had a crossing traffic, Boeing-767 going from right to the left, 2000 feet below, and I shot the quick video showing ‘basics’ of air traffic management, and what planes do when they meet at the crossroad.

Snapshot of the video screen(Nothing special in our case, the guys in other plane represented by ‘hollow diamond’ on the TCAS display were doing, probably, the same - just watched us, passers-by)

Should figure out why the video is being assigned .jpeg tag while originally it is .avi..

Alright, you’ll see it soon!

P.S.

Wait a minute! At the very last minute I’ve got it!

HERE IS VIDEO!

Million ‘Blue Noses’

Tell you, almost ‘got lost’ navigating through the maze of winding roads in the ‘time and space continuum’. Working on the ‘Time Machine’ has turned to be a challenge as I switched back and forth between decades on the time line and two computer platforms (PC vs Mac;) in the mission control centre.

Mission Control Centre OK, let me just run the ‘reality test’, and I’ll be back (or ‘forward’) in Canada, and NOW - not for too long though, for we are going to look into the Canada’s history book.

Traveling in the Time Machine.

A sample of the Time Machine. Offered by Hollywood. Get bored with ‘the decrepit Soviet-era junk’ I’ve been feeding up to the blog so far?

OK, take the seats in our Time Machine, buckle yourself up, and - off we go. To the Hollywood!
