Flying Beavers on ‘Motion Picture’

This photo-session took place on an excellent evening of November 5. Shortly after we checked in to the Radisson hotel my friend came to visit, and I suggested we would go and see ‘an interesting place’.
It seemed he liked an idea, and - as it turned, - the place too, so, we spent almost an hour around there, at the Frazer River float plane base well known as ‘Flying Beaver’.
It was exactly the time when all the aircraft, the float planes of a few operators such as ‘Harbour Air‘, ‘SEAir, and some others, were coming back home so that to be in before dark would fall.
Yesterday we stayed overnight in Vancouver, and it was a chance to do another session of ‘fair spotting’
(See one recent report of this kind, from YYZ).
There’s a place on the South part of YVR known to many people as ‘Flying Beaver’. Or, some people call it ‘Flying Beavers’ - that’s for a reason - there’s a fair number of DHC-2 ‘Beaver’ aircraft flying in and out of the place.

On the road again. It is one of the relatively rare five-day pairings, and not too many folks in our system like them. I’m not an exclusion. But it’s OK, work is work, and still - as I do my bid for the next month I never advise system I would prefer avoiding these pairings.
And a first stop is at Saskatoon again.

Today we sit in Toronto. The ‘Sheraton’ (that’s where we stay overnight) is located right at the airport. In some sense it is a convenient location, - especially when you checking out and go to work, or you are coming from somewhere, and checking in. All your ‘transfer hustle’ wouldn’t take a time any longer than just a few minutes to walk across the road on the ‘overpass’.

It was the first time I have ever endeavored to voyage down to Saskatoon city centre. Or, ‘Toontown downtown’, for the same purpose. A few times I saw the city from above, when I flew over either at high altitude going somewhere else across the country, or doing approach to ‘Toonport’
exactly like on this picture posted on Flickr in February this year. Read the rest of this entry »

Of course, it was a joke, but who knows.. Should check statistics.
Thanks to Alan Negrin (a remark about Glasair Aviation as ‘being a second largest aircraft manufacturer in the state of Washington’ was his
) we had a chance to tour the factory.
‘Facts-Finding Mission’ to Seattle and the area.

Having passed a boarding for a Horizon Air flight #2536 uneventfully, we were on our way back to Calgary after 5-day trip to Seattle and a few places around.
It’s 1 a.m. in Seattle.
23 hours ago we were at home yet, getting up early. Then we went to the airport to make another try for Horizon, which turned to be a success this time. And here we are, in Seattle.
Day number one was for the Museum of Flight. Absolutely amazing place.
However, I’m turning in to the night - 24th hour on feet… wait a minute.. what’s a smell? - oh, no: I must be ‘burning the midnight oil!’
See ya,
