Among a few interesting things, noteworthy to mention about ‘Russky Dom’, a Russia’s ‘mission house’ in Vancouver (which was in essence the country’s ‘flag post’ heralding the next Winter Olympics in Sochi), there were the impromptu concerts and performances given by a number of folk dancers and musicians. For example, we had an exquisite pleasure to watch a delightful performance by Dmitry Kalinin’, a well know Russian ‘balalaika master’.
Uh, seems like these underwater images taken by a very simple, $10-dollar camera turned out not too bad. Or, you would rather call them ’so-so’, but they are not as bad as you might expect from such a ‘low budget solution’. At least, I’ve been able to identify some of the fish captured on it in two days of Hanauma Bay snorkeling. Read the rest of this entry »
Well, everything is eventually coming up to its end. So was our unforgettable ‘Hawaii tour’, - we already got back home, and now it is stored in my not so reliable memory. Luckily, there’s a more solid back-up to it available, - on an external hard drive (which in its turn was immediately copied for further back-up
), in a digital form, easily retrievable, in vivid colors, representing pretty much of everything that was seen during this terrific trip. Read the rest of this entry »
The Caribbean. Enthralling beauty of turquoise waters. Divine islands contoured with miles of sandy beaches exposed to effects of elements, - such as balmy breezes - that gently caress pale-skinned bodies of temporary visitors fetched over here, across the spaces from their habitats normally found in much higher latitudes.. An enticing concept of living ‘with no time’. An ultimate getaway, a magnet paradise for escapist-type characters populating some of John Grisham’s books. Warning: “Do not get overly enchanted!”

Before this one I never had even a close look inside a Dash-8 in my entire life! Who knew the first ever ride would be going to happen in the Caribbean! Instead of Canada, not to mention Russia. And to add more peculiarity to a set of circumstances surrounding this ride, - it was ’strictly business’; however, not without a touch of pleasure

Radials are alive, and no doubt, - they will be.
I took this picture last summer at Red Lake, during their unique ‘Norseman Festival’. Town’s main street was closed for traffic, so the festival got some room for placing booths and kiosks of commercial participants. Read the rest of this entry »
You can’t see them too often at St. John’s, Newfoundland. Oh, well, in fact, these, and other of their kind fly over the Newfoundland by dozens per any given day - across Atlantic, in both directions, but these big ones never stop at YYT (’Torbey’) routinely. Read the rest of this entry »
There’s one particular way to spot planes in Bahamas. Go ‘below sea level’.
Perhaps, guys in the ‘Stuart Cove’s of Nassau always use this joke on us, ‘dummy snorkels’, whenever they brief before a tour to this place: “A pilot is still there, by the way.. say ‘Hello’ to him, ask, if he needs anything”.
So, it was the very first time when we tried an underwater camera. Really got interested to get an image of that pilot
(to be continued… got a call from crew sched.. )
We are going on vacation - to check it out what’s going on in ‘Bermuda Triangle’, at its Western point
Although it is a picture of Freeport, we are going to Nassau. I couldn’t find the Nassau’s picture, anyway, it was taken in the middle of the night, enroute from Montreal to Dominican (right through the Bermuda Triangle!) . Hopefully, I’ll have a break from a constant hanging out in the Internet.
But I’ll be back, in a while
Cheers,
Clash
