It is just a short remark on a request I got the other day. A gentleman from Brasilia (! - in a comment to this post) asked me if I had images of the Tu-104 ‘in Aeroflot´s early livery’.
Here’s what I’ve been able to find in my own resources:
Tu-104s and Il-18s on the ramp at Tolmachevo, the main airport for the Novosibirsk city.
As I wrote before, my second cousin Yuri used to fly this type for a few years after he accomplished a short term contract in Soviet Air Force flying the Tu-104’s military prototype Tu-16 ‘Badger. Guess, transition training was no problem
I also scanned two old photographs..

..and by a pure chance found something interesting with regard to the above photo.

Wouldn’t that be nice if they determined the model price simply by its weight?
Although the rule of thumb ‘The more solid material, the more expensive the model‘ also affects price equation, the main price factors lay on different grounds.

It will take you approximately 2 hour 15-25 minutes before you reach Istanbul, Ataturk International (LTBA) from Moscow, Sheremetyevo (UUEE) on Tu-154. Of course, it depends on factors that are well known from navigation by air, such as true airspeed, wind, time on the approach, etc.

In a previous post I mentioned a period of time when we were preparing to the ‘Big Move‘, and how I bought a digital camera to record some moments of ongoing life in that hectic period, the life that we were about to ‘trade off’ soon for something new and exciting, but - challenging and uncertain.
Sure thing, my camera was with me when I was going to fly, - as, for example, on the day of February 27, when I was scheduled for a regular fight from Moscow to Istanbul, Turkey.

Dear Club Members,
There’s an idea that’s been haunting me for while, and I’d like to share it with you.. maybe, in doing so I’ll finally get some weight off my shoulders

Sure thing, when it comes to ‘club member obligations’, no matter what kind of club one cares about, - as a true ‘aficionado’ he or she would normally keep a collection of items reflecting their respective devotion to the ‘idol’
- either a poster, or a piece of cloth - if you lucky enough to get one. Anything in fact would do, and ‘the sky is only the limit’ for your imagination in that case .
Speaking of the airplane lovers’ fetishes, the most appropriate kind of item would be a good scale model. Let’s talk then about providing our ‘RA-85123 Fan Club‘ members with a decent ‘figurine of Herself’, the Tu-154, registered as RA-85123.

Hello, my dear ‘RA-85123 Fan Club’ members,
It is a pleasure for me to inform you that we’ve just got a new image from Russia showing our ‘idol plane’ RA-85123.
It was spotted at Adler, - an airport servicing the Black Sea resort of Sochi - the would-be host town for the Winter Olympics-2014, by the way. And it was a job by Denis, a sure candidate for our club. Denis flies 737 for the second largest Russian carrier S7. He too flew Tu-154 before switching to Boeing. Read the rest of this entry »

Hey, Tristan,
remember, a question somehow popped up as we discussed the Helios Air accident, and it was with regard the ‘Passenger Oxygen On’ light. You asked, whether there’s such a light in the 737’s flight deck.
The answer was ‘Yes’, and here you can see it
See, the light is ON, but no worries - it is only because I had pressed it, - as we always do in order to check the bulbs in particular annunciators.

Hello, everybody,
It is a notice to all ‘RA-85123 Fan Club’ members that we’ve got a new fellow into our enthusiastic group.
Let me introduce ‘Tom the Dutchman’ to you
I know Tom, we’ve been in touch for a pretty long while, talking on a number of aviation topics, - TU-154 aircraft included. In fact, Tom even dared to consider an idea of going over to Russia, and looking for a flying job there!

Just a quick notice that should be put in with regard to Black Sea and what’s going on down there: a Black Sea resort town of Gelendjik is hosting an airshow which is known as ‘Gelendjik Hydro Aviation Salon‘.
They run in once in every two years, in the early days of September, and the next one is going to be in 2008.
