Boeing-727 vs Tu-154
De-mythology, From the History of the 'Big Clash', Freedom of Choice, Times&Spaces, Clash, RA-85123 Fan Club No Comments »
As it seems, a topic ‘Boeing-727 vs Tu-154′ perfectly fits into the ‘clash thesis‘ actively pursued on this blog, - as a case to explore, of course, - not a pretex for another round of ‘Cold War’
So, I thought it would be worthwhile to continue reviewing some traits of two similar aircraft: Boeing-727, and Tupolev-154. Read the rest of this entry »

Nicely looking airplane, the 727 is. I always enjoy its look when it may appear somewhere nearby. No wonder: it is a sort of ’sister-ship’, an airplane having distinct similarities to the Tu-154, the one I flew in Russia before moving to North America. Interestingly enough, .. Aeroflot Flight to Istanbul-III. Going back Home

Hello, my excuses: it’s been a while until I got things together to finish this ‘piece of memoir on flying with Aeroflot’.
So, taxi-out route at Istanbul from the area where we were parked to the departure RW 18R’s threshold was pretty straightforward. Read the rest of this entry »
A news has just come: our ‘babe’, the Tu-154 Reg. ‘RA-85123‘, reappeared at Krasnodar lately. Her sister-ship, RA-85795, is also back to Kuban. They can be seen here, sitting side-by-side on the ramp at Krasnodar airport. Read the rest of this entry »
Aeroflot Flight 101 to Warsaw
Editorial, De-mythology, Times&Spaces, RA-85123 Fan Club No Comments »
It is not a long trip - one hour and fifteen minutes maybe, at most. Actually we would spend more time on the ground during a turn-around than in the air. Stops at Warsaw - Okecie airport were long enough to make it to a duty free in the company representative’s van, shop for a bottle of ‘Zubrovka’
, and come back, still ‘rush-free’. Read the rest of this entry »
Perhaps, some know that the Moscow city’s needs in the commercial air transport are mostly being served by the three large airports: Sheremetyevo (UUEE), Vnukovo (UUWW), and Domodedovo (UUDD). There’s also a smaller one called Bykovo (UUBB), that is also a part of the air transportation system and the whole airspace organization in the vicinity of this metropolitan area. Vertical Separation Minima. Russia vs ICAO

Seems like it was a second picture in a set taken during the same “photo session” - it shows the time and the date in the lower right corner (the 13th of whatever month..), - a date registering format in the camera is set in such a way that unfortunately there’s no indication of the month and the year. But at least we’ve got the time: it is 9:32.. Read the rest of this entry »
It will be a pleasure to resume posting “Tupolev Files”, which were gathered into the ‘RA-85123 Fan Club’ category. As long as my recently done search goes, it is known that the Tu-154M registered as ‘RA-85123′ is now working for a third operator in Russia since the time it was rolled out from the ‘Samara Aircraft Manufacturing Plant’ as a ‘brand new old Tupolev’. Oleg Deripaska is invited to join our ‘RA-85123 Fan Club’
Flickr, Editorial, Clash, Reading, People, RA-85123 Fan Club, Kuban&Krasnodar No Comments »Well, it may seem to sound like a joke.
However, it is just ‘half-a-joke’
I doubt if Oleg Deripaska reads ‘Globe and Mail’ at all.. Although, it might be that his assistants had prepared some excerpts from Canadian media reporting on an interview he gave them in Moscow a few days ago. (Oh, sure, free media in the West write all kind of stuff on ‘oligarchic capitalism in Russia’ generally, and Oleg Deripaska - particularly
But it is an utterly obscure probability that this post will get ‘on his radar’ any time soon. Anyway, if this thing is going to ever happen, I’d like to invite him to be an honored member of our ‘RA-85123 Fan Club‘.
And there’s something that makes me think this invitation is ‘no-nonsense’.
