What a beautiful dawn! Mornings like that are a special feature, highlighting an outstanding character of the Kuban region (oficially - ‘Krasnodarsky Krai’) located in Southern part of Russia. I wrote already a few dedicated posts about this country, and there seems to be a good reason to write one more. Yes, it was a pleasure to receive a mail from an old friend of mine living in Kuban. Aleksei (one more Alexei here and around!
) wished all good things to us in the New Year Eve, and ‘briefed’ me on what’s going on in his ’sophisticated household’. Read the rest of this entry »

Be-200ChS is getting its ‘feet wet’ rolling down the sloped ramp at the Beriev test base, which is a venue site for the Gelendjik ‘Hydro Aviation Salon’. It is a 2006 picture, but we are looking forward to seeing images from this year’s airshow at the Black Sea. Read the rest of this entry »

Gelendjik ‘Hydro-Aviation Salon‘ is to open on September, 4. We haven’t proceeded with our plans to go and visit the event this year. Kinda long trip, but first of all there’s been a few reasons related to a necessity to do some immediate stuff at home. My apologies to our ‘RA-85123 Fan Club‘ members for ‘failing to fulfill expectations’

Well, it may seem to sound like a joke.
However, it is just ‘half-a-joke’
I doubt if Oleg Deripaska reads ‘Globe and Mail’ at all.. Although, it might be that his assistants had prepared some excerpts from Canadian media reporting on an interview he gave them in Moscow a few days ago. (Oh, sure, free media in the West write all kind of stuff on ‘oligarchic capitalism in Russia’ generally, and Oleg Deripaska - particularly
But it is an utterly obscure probability that this post will get ‘on his radar’ any time soon. Anyway, if this thing is going to ever happen, I’d like to invite him to be an honored member of our ‘RA-85123 Fan Club‘.
And there’s something that makes me think this invitation is ‘no-nonsense’.

So, Halloween had come on Russian soil. And we learned more about it though.. school, one of the first privately owned and run outfits of this kind in Krasnodar, Russia. The school had an unusually simple name: ‘Julia‘, or ‘Private School ‘Julia’.

During those ‘incredible 90s’ in Russia when ‘Perestroika‘, - a tremendous shift of epic proportion from ‘Communism to Capitalism just overnight’ was on full throttle, Russians were introduced to many things either unknown to them before, or it was the stuff they might have just heard very little at the best.

Just a quick notice that should be put in with regard to Black Sea and what’s going on down there: a Black Sea resort town of Gelendjik is hosting an airshow which is known as ‘Gelendjik Hydro Aviation Salon‘.
They run in once in every two years, in the early days of September, and the next one is going to be in 2008.

What do you think you see on this picture? - Mountains, of course. Sorry, color-wise this image wasn’t perfect, and I converted it into B&W. You might think ‘Hey, he’s got tons of Rockies’ images, what the reason he’s trying to sell this one?’
OK, here’s another couple: of mountains…

..and a wheat farm field .

‘Well, if this is all about REGIONS, so - it’s Alberta, isn’t it, but, - why?’, you may shrug it off.

‘Kuban&Cubana’, - never heard of?
Tell you, nothing in common with Dolce&Gabbana’

Yeah, sounds funny, but in fact it could be quite suitable for an ‘airline alliance’ name.. And the proposed alliance’s partners would probably find this image to be suitable as a letterhead graphic on the first page of their interline agreement, if ever such an agreement to be forged between the two
