Gloomy Morning

Wolfgang Pack. What a name! As if to scare the hell out of you in the morning, and thus, - kick-start..

Sullen, moronic, here comes the morning.

3:15 a.m. in Winnipeg. Where is my body? 2:15 Calgary time.

Luckily, two weeks spent in Dominican pushed your body clock 3 hours ahead, and it helps. And a pack of ‘Wolfgang Puck ‘, brewed in coffee machine slowly began to work.. Don’t forget your stuff in the room. Oh, holly, it may happen just like that.

Actually, ‘Wolfgang Puck’ yaks.  Looking forward to having a cup of ‘Tim Hortons’ at the airport. Coveting the dream to win a big prize through their ‘Roll the Rim!’ Affair.

Gotta get going,

Good Morning, World,

Blogging

Blogroll, Flickr No Comments »

Moon Phases. Moon Calendar. Supermoon. Moon cycle, and so on. That’s how you know ‘the time has come’.

That’s it. The time has come.

Back to the grassroots of blogging.(Oh, My, - Google helps a lot, it’s like a ‘powerhouse or collective consciousness‘: so, I goggled ‘grassroots’. Turned out, Wikipedia has an entry. I cherry-picked a passage:

A grassroots movement (often referenced in the context of a political movement) is one driven by the politics of a community. The term implies that the creation of the movement and the group supporting it are natural and spontaneous, highlighting the differences between this and a movement that is orchestrated by traditional power structures.

‘Natural and spontaneous’.. That’s it. Sounds familiar, ring the bell. That’s about me. The time has come. For blogging. Blabbing. Yapping.

And then, a word came to my mind. As if from the ‘twilight zone’ :) It was ‘Squirting’. Believe me, I didn’t remember at once what it does mean.  Again, you’ve got a solution tool, right at your fingertips: just “Google It!” Which I did.

O-oh.. No.. No good.  I wouldn’t recommend you to do this.

But sincerely, English is not my ‘native tongue’. Or, ‘Mother tongue’, as they call it sometimes. My mother wouldn’t have liked what kind of stuff I allow myself to poke my nose in. But it’s not her fault. The word came, anyway, and I needed to get an exact meaning of it.

I will resume.. No, I will start a genuine blogging on this web-site. Its is not though that it will be done from the scratch. There’s some ‘legacy’ already accumulated. But the concept will be totally overhauled.

A few things that happened recently in my life prompted me to reshuffle my whole ‘Internet-existence’. The latest one was our trip to Dominican Republic. It was like a ‘last straw’, actually.

It was so different from all the travel adventures that we had before. In many aspects. Just for starters, for the first time in our life we went down to ANOTHER COUNTRY to visit our children. (See: that’s Us, driving in a cab to a rented ‘cabana’. With all the stuff we brought for them.)

OK, Right now it’s time to go to bed.

Tomorrow it will be continued..

(Tomorrow I fly to Tampa Bay in Florida)

Cheers.

Rocking Balalaika invites to Sochi

Balalaika man was rocking in ‘Russki Dom’ Among a few interesting  things, noteworthy to mention about ‘Russky Dom’, a Russia’s ‘mission house’ in Vancouver (which was in essence the country’s ‘flag post’ heralding the next Winter Olympics in Sochi), there were the impromptu concerts and performances given by a number of folk dancers and musicians. For example, we had an exquisite pleasure to watch a delightful performance by Dmitry Kalinin’, a well know Russian ‘balalaika master’.

Recreational Flying out of Indus.

Flickr, Editorial, Family 3 Comments »

It is a common view at the sunday’s Indus: ultralights buzzing over the field. Here is some notes on our recent outing to Indus, a privately owned airfield located South-East of Calgary, approximately 12 km from an intersection of Highway 22X (‘Marquis of Lorne Trail’) and Deerfoot. A few days ago when I met Butch in Springbank, among other things he was talking about a ‘new season of recreational flying at Indus’, that apparently began picking up, as the average temperature were on the rise, reflecting a full-blown advance of the spring. Clutching the plane to a tractor with a tow-bar Here’s a quick post to sustain the blog’s rolling. Got lucky to get a ‘fun ride’ on the Cougar lately. Here’s Butch sitting on the tractor, and another guys is hooking up a tow-bar to it. The plane is going to be bushed back inside a hangar. Read the rest of this entry »

Hawaii Impressions-II

One of the most common ‘reef fish species’ that can bee seen in the Hanauma Bay, ‘Orangespine Unicornfish’. Uh, seems like these underwater images taken by a very simple, $10-dollar camera turned out not too bad. Or, you would rather call them ’so-so’, but they are not as bad as you might expect from such a ‘low budget solution’. At least, I’ve been able to identify some of the fish captured on it in two days of Hanauma Bay snorkeling. Read the rest of this entry »

Hawai’i Impressions

World Class Surfers’ Mekka - ‘Banzai Pipeline’ Well, everything is eventually coming up to its end. So was our unforgettable ‘Hawaii tour’, - we already got back home, and now it is stored in my not so reliable memory. Luckily, there’s a more solid back-up to it available, - on an external hard drive (which in its turn was immediately copied for further back-up :) ), in a digital form, easily retrievable, in vivid colors, representing pretty much of everything that was seen during this terrific trip. Engine Change in the Bush

Flickr, Freedom of Choice, Times&Spaces, Bush Operation on both sides of Arctic No Comments »

“Ingenuity helps to perpetuate life”. A hoist frame, like one pictured here, would be normally built from ‘local material’ which was plenty around in the bush. But it was not always the case! For example, when the flight would happen to make an emergency landing on the territory somewhere beyond the tree line, - in the Barren Lands, specifically. You have to be genuinely resourceful if you ‘do stuff’ in the remoteness of bush. And if you’ve got a ‘bad day’, and got into a kind of emergency and, as a result, ended up with a sure chance to become stranded in the wilderness for a while, I’ll bet you do everything, employ all your ingenuity to get yourself out of the dire situation.
