Browsing through tons of images taken within a couple of recent years, I found a few featuring an Ilyushin-76, when it rested for a while on the Calgary’s airport ramp in the end of 2007.
In one of the recent posts I mentioned this type, although put a remark that it is not the kind of plane you could see here often. At least not as often as it may be with a more ‘prominent’ Antonov-124.
However, it was one of those rare occasions. The plane, as I remember, stayed there for some unspecified reason.
Yes, few people knew exactly what caused this Ukrainian-registered UR-USU to become a ‘guest’ in Calgary, but some good of it was that it had been an attraction for us, spotters
One conspicuous thing about the type - and I’m trying to make a point of it - there’s some grounds to regard the Ilyushin-76 as an ‘ULTIMATE BUSH PLANE’ ever operated in Russia
So, the plane’s appearance in Calgary was a great opportunity for the interested (in knowing more about ‘Russia’s bush aviation’) to have a look at it.

I often visit Borispol Airport but I’ve never seen this before.I suppose this one was converted from military airplane(you can see masked tourelle in the base of fin) for civil use.Perhaps, this plane is one of the Melitopol’s regiment.

Folks,
I found some stuff on the company just ‘googling’ the ‘Ukrainian Cargo Airways’. After having read some of the materials I got an impression the Il-76 (at least, those of the UCA) might become even more rare in Canada
