What a beautiful dawn! Mornings like that are a special feature, highlighting an outstanding character of the Kuban region (oficially - ‘Krasnodarsky Krai’) located in Southern part of Russia. I wrote already a few dedicated posts about this country, and there seems to be a good reason to write one more. Yes, it was a pleasure to receive a mail from an old friend of mine living in Kuban. Aleksei (one more Alexei here and around!
) wished all good things to us in the New Year Eve, and ‘briefed’ me on what’s going on in his ’sophisticated household’.
Alexei says his General Aviation business keeps growing, in terms of aircraft fleet numbers and variety of types, and they are also expanding into new areas of operation and application, - among those are aerobatic training provided by highly experienced ‘ex-DOSAAF’ sporty’s pilots,
and aerial sightseeing tours over locations laying in this scenic region of Caucasian Mountains and the Black Sea. That’s exactly a region where the next (2014, - after Vancouver-2010) winter Olympics are scheduled to be..
Their ground base and facilities are getting stronger too.
He says they’ve extended a paved runway up to 600 m (1800 ft), and there’s a parallel grass runway of 800 m (2400 ft) commissioned recently into operation. And they’ve got a mini-hotel - an accomplishment that fills Alexei with a fair deal of proud
I’m wondering, if there’s a ‘brave and adventurous guy’ here, (like Willi, who visited us in Krasnodar in 1998) who would be willing to go over there, and check out the place
There’s NO ORGANIZED TOURS yet going into there, but who knows - maybe we could work out a sort of ‘package deal’ eventually..
Anyway, I’ll keep you advised..
