Experience of Exceptional Weather in Victoria
Flickr, Editorial, De-mythology, From the Road, Clash Add commentsAll the local residents in Victoria who we were talking to, and who ventured to commenting the weather in a small talk on this December day, put a remark about a ‘rare chance to see the blizzard of winnipegian proportion’, - which was anticipated, but yet, - as usual in these cases - caught the city dwellers with a ‘bit of surprise’ on the preceding evening, grew fast into a serious storm, and ravaged on through the night, until the noon of 14th.
Funny enough, some people uttered comments with a trace of proud clearly discerned in their voices, although there were others, who would sound as if they were expressing an excuse for local weather at the moment, but who would inevitably end up on a cheerful note, pointing out that “you (i.e., our ‘visiting party’) were lucky enough to see such a ‘unique natural phenomenon’ going on in the place otherwise known for its pretty mild winter”.
True, the weather change was remarkable - even though in the day before it was cold and windy, but breaks in the clouds provided the city with plenty of sun, and there was no snow falling down from these clouds..
..and street flowers in mid-December were all the reassuring signs to believe you are not at the harshest spot in the entire winter Canada.
So, as the weather was good, - ‘first things first’ - we went to spot float planes in the Harbour
Alexey, our friend from Moscow, got immediately and so genuinely excited about seeing ’so many float planes at once’, that it seems appropriate for us to team up, and make a post, in which he would share his ‘profound impressions left after discovering some good and authentic Canadian aviation’
So, it is to be continued..

Wow, at least you guys got some good photos. Did you have to wait long for a flight at YVR?
The Victoria airport came back to life later in the afternoon.

Colin,
our way back to Vancouver wasn’t a problem. It was getting on the plane for three of us at once - what turned to be a tough business (we couldn’t leave our companion behind). We passed three flights before we got on one of them at last.
Anyway, I’m sure, we’ll be on the island again. Summer time
