This photograph is almost 20 years old already! Yeah, my penchant for photography is quite an old one, true. Goes back as far as when I was after the Grade 5.. However, I’m not a ‘photographer’, by all means. It still is a hobby. Some say, “it looks already as an obsession!” Don’t know, I just like it, and that’s it. Blogging and digital photography are getting along very well. Wonder, what their lines are on blogging?! :)

Immigrants to the New World Yeah, here we are, a mere three hours before the start of our ‘quantum leap’ across the ocean to the New World.. March, 23, 2004. The young fellow in a bright yellow jacket is the same person from the picture above. Just some 16 years older. Mark, my son. He’s pushing a cart with our ‘stuff‘. So do the two ladies (they are related to each other as ‘mom and daughter’) a little bit behind him. Yet we didn’t know how ‘multi-faceted’ the word STUFF could be. In fact I seriously doubt if it was even known to any of us at that time.. However, that was ALL THE STUFF we brought along with us to Canada. Just a bit under 270 kgs. Four years ago jet fuel coasted.. eh, - how much?  An average ‘economy class traveler’ across the ocean was allowed to check in two pieces of luggage, 32 kgs each.. - FREE! - plus a piece of carry-on, 10 kgs.

So, the weight quota allotted for all photo albums and some books that would go with us was quite sufficient. Because we were just nearing the edge of the ‘digital era’, and most of the ’stuff’ was ‘printed on carbon’. Although, a pack with all slides was quite compact. Today I can scan them, and they turn out either for print or for the Internet very well. Nice illustrations for my short stories of living in the USSR :)
