Well, it may seem to sound like a joke.

However, it is just ‘half-a-joke’

I doubt if Oleg Deripaska reads ‘Globe and Mail’ at all.. Although, it might be that his assistants had prepared some excerpts from Canadian media reporting on an interview he gave them in Moscow a few days ago. (Oh, sure, free media in the West write all kind of stuff on ‘oligarchic capitalism in Russia’ generally, and Oleg Deripaska - particularly

But it is an utterly obscure probability that this post will get ‘on his radar’ any time soon. Anyway, if this thing is going to ever happen, I’d like to invite him to be an honored member of our ‘RA-85123 Fan Club‘.

And there’s something that makes me think this invitation is ‘no-nonsense’.

Oleg Deripaska and ‘Basic Element‘ are coming to Canada through the deal with Magna - chances are, he would be visiting Canada once in a while. (Although, it is very unlikely he would trade off the luxury of transport on his Gulfstream jet for ‘no-frill but fun ride’ on our company’s 737 )

Oleg is a native of Krasnodar, a nice city in the South of Russia. We used to live in that city for eleven years too. Chances are, we have some mutual acquaintances.

Uh, the circle of his acquaintances is quite broad.. And reaches high

But most probable line where we may be connected, is through our plane - RA-85123, and the company that was it’s first operator - ‘Air Lines of Kuban‘.

Actually, one time I was a ‘minor shareholder’ in that company. Later I sold my shares to one of a few financial brokerage agencies that were seemingly set up by one of the ‘Basic element’s branches for the purposes of buying out the ‘Kuban Airlines’ shares from individuals, like myself, - apparently, ‘BasEl’ wanted to consolidate control over the company at the time.

So, in some senses. we’ve been in business with Oleg. It was not a bad deal. Besides, it was absolutely fair, - no fraud, or scheme!

Matter of fact is, - our RA-85123 ‘had eventually seen the sky’, and not without Oleg’s involvement into this, I guess. BasEl bought both, - ‘Air lines of Kuban’, and ‘Aviacor’ aircraft manufacturing company, where an unaccomplished hull of the would-be RA-85123 had been collecting dust for a few years already.

Then they invested some money, and a ‘pile of aluminum on the floor’ got a shape of an ‘old brand new Tupolev’, and began its life as an airliner.

Definitely, such an influential Club member would help us a lot in achieving our objectives, the central of which is bringing ‘our baby’ to one of the well known North American airshows, - Abbotsford, or Oshkosh, for example.
