Elements of Paris observed in Saskatoon

Saskatoon It was the first time I have ever endeavored to voyage down to Saskatoon city centre. Or, ‘Toontown downtown’, for the same purpose. A few times I saw the city from above, when I flew over either at high altitude going somewhere else across the country, or doing approach to ‘Toonport’ :)

Saskatoon city centre from the bird’s eye view exactly like on this picture posted on Flickr in February this year. We are staying in Saskatoon Inn now, our regular place for overnight, and it is located near the airport. We’ve got almost 18 hours on the ground, so I decided to ‘hit the road’. Literally. Walking. Going on foot.

Why not? - positive from all aspects: for body - quite a workout, and for soul - I thought that it would be worthwhile to find at last some ‘elements of Paris’ image’ in this ‘essentially prairie town’. A nice walk would certainly be the best way to accomplish such a quest.

Let’s have a look at some pictures taken during this tour, and then try to determine if there’s any ‘feel of ‘Paris’ in them

Trees are not ‘Chestnuts’, - like in Paris, - but they look as much pretty. University Bridge

Delta Bessborough Hotel resembled a palace..

What in Paris (France) would be looking alike? Anyway, there’s something in it.. (Delta Bessborough Hotel) ‘Typical Park’ in ‘Paris’

Great photos of a nice little city. You are right that there is nothing like getting out on foot to explore and shoot photos at your leisure.

    Hello, OldDogNewTrick,

Yes, I liked ‘Toontown’. It seems to be a pretty town, especially in the summer.

However, I took a bus to go back to the hotel :) - it was almost dark.

They say also Saskatoon is due to become a ‘hot town’ fairly soon, like Calgary.
