I guess, they are bound to have such a meeting one day. It is amazing, how smaller and smaller this world is becoming!

And now I’m going to to pass a ‘Hello’ from a Mars pilot to Beriev pilots.

Martin Mars model in Victoria museum. The only problem is all active Beriev pilots now out of their bases, posted to somewhere else (around Europe), pretty busy fighting fires, including those ones ravaging in Greece.

It was a typical ‘Wet Coast Day’ in Victoria Here, in the West Coast today’s weather didn’t look like one favoring forest fires. Drizzle intermittent with rain. But I didn’t pay any attention to weather any more once I got into the British Columbia Aviation Museum at the Victoria airport (CYYJ). Tristan, a friend of mine through Flickr brought me over here, apparently ‘for good’ :)

A chance to meet a Mars pilot Purely by chance we bumped into a Martin Mars pilot! Bob, - that’s his name, - has flown these machines for many years. We had an absolutely amazing ‘hangar chat’, not for too long, though. Again, probably, ‘for good’ - otherwise it would have gone into a ‘very long’ :)

Actually, that was Bob who first asked me, if I ever had a chance to see those ‘Russian amphibian planes with turbofans on the top of the wing‘. ‘Sure I did’, I said , and we immediately turned to the topic.

So, Bob says ‘Hello’ to all Russian Beriev pilots, and that they would be more than welcome to visit Canada on their machine.

We’ll keep this topic going, and hopefully, we’ll report from their actual meeting in the near future.

Cheers,

Clash

Wouldn’t that be something? Have the Beriev waterbombers come to Canada for a demonstration? Sign me up!

    Hey, Colin,

True! But it is a very hard task to accomplish. And it is not the pilots usually, ‘who’s calling shots’ in this kind of matters. But we’ll see, it is a topic worthwhile to explore.

Thanks for ‘dropping by’ in my corner, eh? :)
