Today we sit in Toronto. The ‘Sheraton’ (that’s where we stay overnight) is located right at the airport. In some sense it is a convenient location, - especially when you checking out and go to work, or you are coming from somewhere, and checking in. All your ‘transfer hustle’ wouldn’t take a time any longer than just a few minutes to walk across the road on the ‘overpass’.

It was the first time I have ever endeavored to voyage down to Saskatoon city centre. Or, ‘Toontown downtown’, for the same purpose. A few times I saw the city from above, when I flew over either at high altitude going somewhere else across the country, or doing approach to ‘Toonport’
exactly like on this picture posted on Flickr in February this year. Read the rest of this entry »

Of course, it was a joke, but who knows.. Should check statistics.
Thanks to Alan Negrin (a remark about Glasair Aviation as ‘being a second largest aircraft manufacturer in the state of Washington’ was his
) we had a chance to tour the factory.

Having passed a boarding for a Horizon Air flight #2536 uneventfully, we were on our way back to Calgary after 5-day trip to Seattle and a few places around.

Yes, we ‘tracked them down’
(that’s how one of the Bill Shepherd’s friends worded it when we met in a hangar), and here we are, in a small community of aviation enthusiasts at Diamond Point Air Park, WA.
I first saw the plane at Oshkosh
and since then I wanted to know more about it, and it’s owner.
I would like to thank Bill for almost two hours he spent with us telling interesting stuff about the plane, which I was watching as if it suddenly materialized from my childhood dreams, and had appeared quite real, in metal and fabric, with Red Stars painted on fuselage and the wings.

See more on this in one of the future reports.

Splendid. Another ‘great accomplishment was tucked under the belt’ today after we payed a visit to Everett, WA, where the wide body Boeing planes are being produced on the huge factory adjacent to the aerodrome called ‘Paine Field’.

It’s 1 a.m. in Seattle.
23 hours ago we were at home yet, getting up early. Then we went to the airport to make another try for Horizon, which turned to be a success this time. And here we are, in Seattle.
Day number one was for the Museum of Flight. Absolutely amazing place.
However, I’m turning in to the night - 24th hour on feet… wait a minute.. what’s a smell? - oh, no: I must be ‘burning the midnight oil!’
See ya,

I took it on today’s afternoon from a spot inside the Concourse D by the Gate 33, as we were anxiously waiting for a Horizon Air Flight 2233 final call.
Soon it became obvious there’s no chance to get on this flight as the ’stand-by travelers’, - it was totally packed, so we left the air side, listed ourselves for an early morning flight, and went back home.
Attempt #1 failed.

Our Russian friends are leaving Calgary tomorrow.
We are so happy they liked this part of Alberta, - sure, how wouldn’t they? - and also, it seemed they wanted to learn more about both - the province and the whole country. Obviously, being overwhelmed with information, they’ve sort of ‘put themselves at risk of being ’swept away with an avalanche of all kind of new stuff’

My friend Max, an Aeroflot 767 pilot, and his wife Lilya came to visit us for a few days.
We spent the whole Monday exploring Canadian hallmarks located in Banff National park, such as Lake Louise, Peyto Lake. It seems our guests enjoyed the tour. They said ‘the look of everything they saw was very refreshing’. I bet it should be, - nothing common with Moscow ‘urban landscape’
Rockies welcomed them with a beautiful day too. We are planning a tour in the Calary downtown for tomorrow.
Will Max want to see WestJet?.. Hmm, should ask him
