Hello, my dear ‘RA-85123 Fan Club’ members,

It is a pleasure for me to inform you that we’ve just got a new image from Russia showing our ‘idol plane’ RA-85123.

85123 was seen in Sochi lately. Courtesy of Denis, aka ‘denokan’ It was spotted at Adler, - an airport servicing the Black Sea resort of Sochi - the would-be host town for the Winter Olympics-2014, by the way. And it was a job by Denis, a sure candidate for our club. Denis flies 737 for the second largest Russian carrier S7. He too flew Tu-154 before switching to Boeing.

It’s funny, once I made an interesting spotting for him too. It was not ’solicited’, though :)

Abbotsford. Boeing-737 in colors of the Russian ‘S7′ airline. It was rather a totally unexpected spotting of a Boeing-737 on April 22, 2006. We had just landed at Abbotsford from Calgary and as we back-tracked on RW 07, I noticed the salad-green plane, the tail of which you can see sticking out of the hangar, and I thought: “Hey, it looks somewhat familiar to me. Oh, wait a minute.. but what are the chances!”, - and a second later there was no doubt: it was the Boeing-737 plane painted in the S7 airline color scheme.

S7, a rebranded ‘Sibir’ (’Siberia’) company has a growing fleet of Western built aircraft. S7 was the first airline in Russia to order 787s from Boeing. Later on, in one of our communications Denis confirmed it was a long-awaited 737-400, a further addition to the company’s growing fleet. (not the exactly same as one pictured on the image above :)

WestJet’s C-FWAI, and the ‘S7′ Russian carrier’s Boeing-737 on the same picture. Next morning, as we prepared for departure to Calgary, I took one more picture. Isn’t that funny: although born in the same country, Denis and I live now thousands miles apart, on the different continents, and here the planes we fly for our companies had a chance to meet each other :)

Denis is an active member of the Internet pilot community, and he can communicate in English very well.

Thank you, buddy, for the nice picture, and you are welcome to the Club, just let us know, any time.

Clash,

    Hi!

This is 737-500 VP-BSX on the photo. Now we are waiting for a third 737-400 which will fly with two previous in a new airline, “Globus” - “Siberia” daughter airline - charter carrier.

    Hello, denocan,

nice to hear from you. So, that 737 I spotted in Abbotsford wasn’t a -400 but 737-500 VP-BSX?

And what about ‘Globus’ airline, is it already scheduled for a launch, or it is just a project mulled over?

And another question: has there been any change lately on an issue of allowing foreign pilots fly for Russian airlines?

Thank you for dropping by, it is a pleasure to communicate with you, we are reserving a position #7 (’cause you are from ‘S7′!) in our RA-85123 Fan Club :)

    Cheers
