AN-2 Russian Bushplane. Sixty Years on Duty.
Editorial, De-mythology, Freedom of Choice, Times&Spaces, Clash, People Add commentsSo, Happy Birthday, Annie!
Venerable biplane is going to meet its 60th anniversary. As a matter of fact, on 31st of August. Interesting, if Mr. Robert S. Grant who wrote an article on ‘Annie’ in the ‘Canadian Aviator’ magazine knows about it.. Anyway, I’ll try to find a way how to remind him of this fact
But I’m pretty sure he does.. I’ll bet he knows about An-2 quite a bit more than myself. So, these few pictures are a sort of ‘birthday postcard’ for An-2 and its enthusiasts in Canada.
They are not mine, though. I’ve just got a new friend through the Internet, he is a pilot in Russia, and a photographer too. By the way, he bears a truly Russian name - Ivan.
Ivan kindly allowed me to take a few pictures from his posted collections on Streamphoto.ru. I took these ones. And you can go and see another ones, I found his photostream to be very interesting.
Hopefully, Ivan will provide some comments on the pictures, but as far as I know, they were taken at the aerodrome where these An-2s are based, and where they fly out for the forestfire patrols in the Far East of Russia.
I like this one. Good job, Ivan, thank you very much for pleasure to see some ‘authentic stuff’ from the backside of this vast country. And we are looking forward to hearing from you with some comments and more photos.
