Red ‘Hot’ Lake

We’ve just stopped by for overnight in Duluth, Minnesota, on our way to Oshkosh, and it appears to be the first place where I could get an access to the Internet. We’ve driven already some 2500 km on the roads across the half of Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, a bit of Ontario, - to Red Lake, a small town where the Highway 105 ends, and the most reliable transport to get you further North is the aviation.
Which means presumably ‘planes on floats’. Some of these planes have been around here for more than 60 years, and they are still in very good shape. And the truth of this we have just checked out as we visited the ‘Norseman Festival’, a local Red Lake airshow featuring unique planes ‘built to last’.
Can proudly report to you that we’ve had a ride on the venerable plane. I’ll post more stuff on the Norseman festival later, probably not before we get back home - there is another festival we are looking forward to seeing tomorrow - and it will certainly be keeping us busy.
Just a quick glance:
Red Lake, Ontario, the ‘Norseman Capital of the World’
Common view of a ‘local resident’ in the Red Lake area: often they are roaming along the road. Spotted just a few hundred meters from the Rahill Beach where I tasted the ‘Red Hot Water’
Firework after the first day of the festival was very good. Victoria had an opinion it was even better than the one we had in Calgary on the Canada Day. Good for you, guys in Red Lake!
