A Cossack Girl in a Cowboy Country

… Sounds like the ‘heredity really matters’.

Zhenya posed for while like a real ‘Stampede girl’

She came to visit us from the ‘Cossacks’ Country’ - a region of Russia traditionally called ‘Kuban’ (nothing has to do with ‘Cuba’, though, and I was reflecting on it here), with a main city of Krasnodar. In old times it was called ‘Ekaterinodar’, which meant a ‘big gift’ to the cossacks from Katherine the Great, a legendary Russian Empress .

Well, I don’t know if there’s a ‘trace of inheritance’ descending directly from the Empress, but there’s a certain line in her blood that originated in cossacks. That’s probably why this Stampede dress fitted to her ‘like a glove’. Guess, there’s something common between ‘cowboys’ and ‘cossacks’ :)

Both cowboys and cossacks are truly brave guys

Eugenia (’Zhenya’), a daughter of my friend, a pilot from Krasnodar, has been a great delight for us, ‘empty nesters’, while she stayed at our home on this visit. She says she liked all about being here so much. She’s been to Stampede,

Cossacks were very familiar with the guns

we traveled a few times to the Rockies, and finally did a great two-day trip to Jasper via the Icefield Parkway.

Zhenya was blown away seeing the Peyto Lake, a genuine Canadian Hallmark

Looks like a handy shelter Feels great, right on the top

Day before yesterday we showed her off to the airport

Zhenya looked a bit sad at the airport

and she was gone back to Russia. On our way back from the airport we had a farewell glimpse of the Airbus carrying her away

Air Canada Airbus departing the 16; destination: Frankfurt.

She wished to say ‘Goodbye’ to everybody she had met here with, and I’m assisting in it by posting this report.

Sweet Hear, we are going to let you know how welcome you have been,

Canada loved you too,

Sergey&Vita

This cute creature entertained us on that evening P.S. On the evening of the same day we were visited by a ‘guest’. A mere seeing this guest lifted our spirits, and we gave a name to it - ‘Zhenya’ :)

Hi Eugenia, It was lovely to have you take time from your busy holiday schedule to join us for Sunday dinner. It is always nice to meet people from other parts of the globe. It gives you a fresh appreciation of just how diverse our world is.
You are lucky to have Sergei and Vita for friends. Judging by the pictures, they took you around to some of the more scenic areas in and around Calgary.
I hope that we meet again one day - either in Russia or Canada.
I am sure your family are incredibly happy to have you home with them again.
I wish you the best in all your future endeavors.
    Your new friend, Sheila

Hello Sheila. Thanks for you comment. I have reached to Krasnodar normally, only I was very tired. My parents were incredibly happy that I have returned because they were very missed for me.
I hope we will meet again too - either in Canada or Russia. If we will decide to trawel to Krasnodar - welcome in my home.
    I hope we will correspond.
If I have made mistakes excuse.
    Give Don my regards.
    Zhenya.
